Lockdown opening hours re-reviewed...

 Thanks for visiting us at the cafe for fresh take away coffee or ring and collect lunches...

Due to staff shortage and family affairs, I came to the conclusion of opening reduced hours during this lockdown.

The new opening hours till the next notification is;

Monday - Closed

Tuesday - Closed

Wednesday - Closed

Thursday - Open 9am to 3pm & Home delivery*

Friday - Open 9am to 3pm & 5pm to 9pm (Okonomiayaki Night)

Saturday - Open 11am to 3pm

Japanese food Home dlivery starts!

 At last, a request for unnecessary curfew has been issued. 😢

Even though the lockdown has started, the number of people coming out is not much less than the lockdown in March, so I can understand why the infection is still spreading.

When I think about what I can do to help, I thought the best thing I can do is to restart the delivery service for Japanese cooking ingredients so you don't have to come out. (Please note that Hot Food cannot be delivered.)

We will have our first delivery service every other Thursday.

This Thursday, the 14th, we will be delivering towards West from the cafe (from Portslade on BN41, 42 to Worthing on BN11, 13). Next Thursday, the 21st, we will be delivering twards East from the cafe (BN1, 2, 3).

Orders can only be placed by email at info@an-an.co.uk. The confirmation of orders received by Wednesday night will be sent to you with bank transfer details and other information.

Please refrain from placing orders by phone, messenger, or text, as it may confuse me...

Also, due to instability and price changes, such as deliveries from wholesalers, this list will be changed sequentially. Thank you for your understanding.

January Sweets and Events

Happy New Year to you all.

It's 2021, the year of the Ox.

And...it's Tier 4😢.

Who would have thought that we would suffer so much with Covid-19?

When it was miraculously announced in December that only Sussex was Tier 2 and everything else was Tier 4, we were so happy. However, as Christmas was over, it was announced that it would be Tier 4.

So, an-an is going back to being a Take Away and Japanese food store for now.

Anyway, we are really lucky to be able to stay open. We will do our best.

During the month of December, we continued to have a shortage of Japanese ingredients and the wholesale companies kept running out of them. There are still many things that are missing, though...

To be honest, December was not not really me, at all... We underextimated how much work need to be done for eating in. Moreover, purchasing and preparing Osechi for the new year's was so stressful. I was always running around and did not have any moment to calm down.  It made me realize how inexperienced I really am. 

Now that I've had three days off for the New Year's vacation, I hope to offer better service and prepare delicious Japanese and Western sweets and snacks.

Japanese sweets for January

Hanabira mochi ￡2.00 per piece

This is one of the tea cakes to celebrate the New Year. It is available until the 15th.

Contains Soy

Black soybean Daifuku ￡1.50 per piece

This is a mame daifuku with black soybeans, a staple of Osechi, in a rice cake. It is a wish for good health this year.

Contains soy and gluten.

Mikan Daifuku ￡2.00 per piece

Due to requests, this product is only available in the beginning of the month. It contains whole Clementine oranges.

Inaka Manju ￡1.50 per piece

This is a country manju wrapped in a thin skin of grated yam. It is a steamed sweet with sweetened red beans and chestnuts. It will be on sale from the second half of the month.

Sales of chestnut manju and steamed chestnut yokan will end when the stock runs out.

Koshi-an Daifuku, Tsubukusa Daifuku, and three kinds of Dorayaki are also always available.

Events in January

4th (Mon): Start of work We will be selling hot drinks such as coffee and tea, and Take Away for lunch. We will also have Japanese foods available in the store. Please ask about frozen and refrigerated foods.

We will be waiting for you at the following business hours

Monday - Friday 8am - 3pm (lunch service from 11:30am)
Saturday 9am - 3pm (lunch service from 11:30am)

We will let you know as soon as we decide on the evening Take Away.
