Hina Matsuri Afternoon Tea Sets will be available for sale or delivery (Brighton Worthing area only) on Wednesday 3 March.

One set £15 (delivery is from a minimum order £25). Please order in conjunction with the other items listed above).

The closing date for orders is 12 noon on Friday 26 February.

This is a 3 tiered set, the first tier contains a sushi set, the second tier contains 4 types of Japanese sweets including Hishi Mochi (diamond-shaped rice cakes) and Sakura Mochi (cherry blossom rice cakes), and the third tier contains Ohinasama and Odairisama (Japanese doll).

  We are into another lockdown month. How are you doing?

Since the last week of January, the café has been running three days a week (Thursday, Friday and Saturday).

We've been spending the first half of the month updating the café website and thinking about how we're going to run it. Occasionally we'll open the cafe for a few events, so keep an eye on our blog, Facebook and Instagram for updates.

This year, for the first time in 124 years, Setsubun will be on the 2nd of February. It's one day earlier than usual.
It makes us feel good. Spring will come a day earlier. So I thought we have to celebrate this day with ehomaki.

That's why Japanese sweets are also turning into spring colour. Pink and green really make you feel lighter.

February Wagashi

Steamed Inaka Manju　￡1.80 each

This is a steamed bun with tsubuan (sweet red bean paste) and sweetened chestnuts wrapped in a thin skin of yam dough. It looks like melting snow on a rock. I can't wait for spring.

White bean paste with plum vinegar kneaded into it, wrapped in pink gyuhi. A slightly salty taste that will leave you wanting more.

In order not to spill the seven blessings we receive from the mouth, we eat the whole roll without talking, facing the direction of Ehou (where the luck comes from). Do not use a knife, so as not to cut off the good fortune. If you want to make it smaller, you may want to roll it with half the size nori before make it.

Lockdown opening hours re-reviewed...

 Thanks for visiting us at the cafe for fresh take away coffee or ring and collect lunches...

Due to staff shortage and family affairs, I came to the conclusion of opening reduced hours during this lockdown.

The new opening hours till the next notification is;

Monday - Closed

Tuesday - Closed

Wednesday - Closed

Thursday - Open 9am to 3pm & Home delivery*

Friday - Open 9am to 3pm & 5pm to 9pm (Okonomiayaki Night)

Saturday - Open 11am to 3pm

Japanese food Home dlivery starts!

 At last, a request for unnecessary curfew has been issued. 😢

Even though the lockdown has started, the number of people coming out is not much less than the lockdown in March, so I can understand why the infection is still spreading.

When I think about what I can do to help, I thought the best thing I can do is to restart the delivery service for Japanese cooking ingredients so you don't have to come out. (Please note that Hot Food cannot be delivered.)

We will have our first delivery service every other Thursday.

This Thursday, the 14th, we will be delivering towards West from the cafe (from Portslade on BN41, 42 to Worthing on BN11, 13). Next Thursday, the 21st, we will be delivering twards East from the cafe (BN1, 2, 3).

Orders can only be placed by email at info@an-an.co.uk. The confirmation of orders received by Wednesday night will be sent to you with bank transfer details and other information.

Please refrain from placing orders by phone, messenger, or text, as it may confuse me...

Also, due to instability and price changes, such as deliveries from wholesalers, this list will be changed sequentially. Thank you for your understanding.
