Something depressing about ...British Summer

Wow, it's July.... Already.
it's been too cold to call this "Summer".

Today's highest temperature was 22 C-degree"
It's a bit like spring weather in Japan.

Some people who live in Japan envy this, as it's soooo hot over there. However, there is a downside.
There are so many Summer Wagashi in Japan. But they are not selling at all as it is not hot enough.

Therefore, it's really rare houses has cooler (air-con). Today weather focus said that temperature at night is just above 10 degree. We never know if there is such a night which is hotter than 25 degree. It is really comfortable in duvets.

However, there is some problem in British Summer.

It's because of the building structure.
Japanese traditional Housings has very good air movement. You will feel cool wind almost all the time during Summer.
On the other hand, British houses are designed to keep warms inside. So during summer, warm air get trapped inside of rooms and get hotter and humid. In the end, it won't be very easy night to sleep.

What?
We should open windows???

It's not so easy. The problem is we cannot install net windows on either inside nor out side of the window. Normal windows opens outwards. Well, sliding windows are very rare.

Then, there is a kind of insects which came from other warmer place through international logistics. The insect started living well here because of global warming, I guess.

And, that insect is called....

Mosquitoes

They are HUGE. If they bite, it's really itchy!
They come into house freely as there is no obstacle on the windows.

I really don't like the buzzing sound in the dark bedroom when a mosquito fly around my ear.

Then, next morning, I would already scratch off a few biting marks.

Awww... British Summer....
